Classical Studies Minor Requirements

Requirements for the Classical Studies minor (24 hours required):

• LAT 111 (First Year Latin, Part One) Offered fall only
• LAT 112 (First Year Latin, Part Two) Offered spring only (B.S. language requirement)
• LAT 115 (Second Year Latin, Part One) Offered fall only (B.A. language requirement)

And 12 hours of electives from the following list:

• HIS 101 (GE: H*) , 220, 221, 222, 223
• PHI 254
• ART 155 (GE: FA*) , 240, 241, 242, 244

Please check with each department on these classes. These classes are not offered every semester.

• (*) Can get General Education credit and credit toward the minor with these courses.
• Credit toward the minor is available from the summer study abroad program in Gradoli, Italy.
• Depending upon availability, an independent study (LAN 287) with Dr. Jasper transcribing and translating medieval manuscripts could be possible after LAT 115 and would count toward the minor.  Learn more about the ISU Manuscript Project here.
